The Best Christmas Ever!!!
As with Thanksgiving, the kids spent Christmas eve, and day, with their other fam's - so we had our actual celebration with Jason and Zeke Christmas night...Zeke got so many toys (most of them Transformers)...he was excited to say the least! Santa brought Jason a Jagstang guitar and tickets to see Phish.....he was excited, too!
Kyle and her family arrived the Saturday following Chrismas, at 7 am, after a 16 hour drive from Austin, Texas. She, Darrell, and the kids immediately went to sleep. Zeke and I couldn't wait for them to wake up...but they did around 1 pm. The kids opened their presents and... went in different directions to play. Hailey never took off her new cowboy boots, Hayden navigated the "spy" car around the house, and Zach played Wii all weekend. Jason's gift to me was to help prepare the meal.....which he did amazingly. From this day forward I will never roast another turkey nor make macaroni......Jason now owns that!!! Trust me...you all need his recipe for macaroni..... it's unbelievable!
It was so much fun to have the family here. Kyle and Darrell took the kids to the movies, Kyle took them to the aquarium, Darrell and Don played golf and cards at the club...we played games (pictionary was cut-throat) and played outdoors. I made homemade pizza one night and we played Monopoly (Sooneropoly...as the game read) but this family is so competitive it isn't funny and I gave up and gave my $ and tokens away when I saw that Zach was going to beat everyone! Jason and Zeke went to the park...Milton and his lovely family came over one evening. Deanna is such a lovely, lovely person. If I didn't know better I would assume she had been born into this family. Derek is just a joy to be around....he's grown into a good man and it's amazing to see how he has evolved. Misha is well...just Misha...as loving as always. It was simply an enjoyable week.
New Year's eve (when we played pictionary) was such a great evening. We had a bowling tournament (Zach and I won). We had appetizers all night (it's called grazing, hah), and watched the ball drop. I think the kids had a blast...I know I did.
Kyle and her's left New Year's day. I'm glad I did nothing around the house except play and enjoy them...(making pancakes and candy with Zeke... downloading music with Hailey... discussing the Twilight series with Zach...cuddling Hayden when he would let me) because now that they're gone the house is too silent. I miss them and know I won't get to see them for awhile. I would begrudge Darrell for taking my baby many states away from me...except when I see her smile...when I see how they look at each other...I know she's happy and that's all that matters. That's my family...and this was the best Christmas ever!

Mr. Big...Kyle took 400 photos of him!
Just yesterday I was rocking a baby trying to get him to sleep...he's now five... they grow up so fast...
